I think she’s only in another song, but the album is pretty good.

Listening to this quite a bit recently:

Yeah I’d say that they’re one of my favourite bands of all time! They’re such a great live band, I’m going to see them in a few weeks. It’s one of those albums that gets better with every listen, you’ll have to let me know what you think of it!

SPG it’s still not out in Canada?! I can’t find it on iTunes and Amazon only has it as an import for 35dollars! Gutted, I can’t seem to find it anywhere 🙁

I think it’s getting released in North America on March 17th (saw a tweet saying that), so it must be out in Canada around the same time? That’s annoying that you can’t find it anywhere. It’s such a good album, if you like their previous records you’ll really enjoy this one. I’m going to see them on Saturday and I can’t wait!

How is this? I’ve had their previous album Tamer Animals for seemingly forever, but can never remember a single thing from it. They strike me as a “nice sound, bland songs” kind of band.

This is the first I’ve heard from them. I’m liking it because it’s kind of what I’m looking for right now. For some reason it seems like most of the good music out this year is a bit more up-beat and this one is nice and relaxing. Good instrumentation, nice layered building songs, and dreamy vocals.

I can see how it could fade into the background as a lot of the songs sound a bit similar, but they have a good sound so I’m still interested. We’ll see how long it holds up. Listen to 2 Pyramids and let me know what you think.

Listening to the song now, and it is pretty good. I’ll give the rest of the album a shot. Thanks for the recommendation.

I had a cynical attitude towards the previous album because it sounded to me like an attempt to cash in on the grandiosity of bands like Arcade Fire and Fleet Foxes. Maybe it wasn’t really the case, but it struck me that way anyway. This is the only song I can remember: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E5Tgd4uoWMc The melody tries to be complex, but it just kind of meanders and gets dressed up with these massive harmonies and orchestration. The sound is great, but the song doesn’t really work for me. “2 Pyramids” does sound more organic. The string and vocal arrangements are there, but they complement the songwriting rather than act as substitutes for it.

I can see your point of view. Although a lot of the music sounds pretty nice it seems to somehow be missing some sort of element of authenticity. I’m not sure how to explain it better than that. This is the main reason why I’m not sure if the album will hold up for very long, but for the time being it’s good.
