Should it be common knowledge???January 17, 2013 at 7:39 pm #531
I almost missed this on instagram and the board. Bryan, I love you mucho.
Claudia, you are even more awesome for finding that.
Also I missed the picture before that one…. which looked like he was still in Aaron’s studio? But this one might be Tarquin? Are there any whiteboard nerds out there from last time who can tell us where these shots are? If they are still in the garage working on demos, a May release sounds awfully early (unless with all Aaron’s producing experience they are now doing this whole album at home?). Was SVE’s Tramp and Local Natives Hummingbird totally recorded in the garage start to finish?
I have so many questions. :-/January 17, 2013 at 10:36 pm #535
The one posted recently was in a studio in Berlin. This picture doesn’t look like Aaron’s home studio though… but I might be wrong.January 17, 2013 at 11:21 pm #538
Good to know about Berlin. I agree that the new one doesn’t look like anything they have posted before from the garage. So that’s good news for the album coming sooner.
So they actually did some (all?) recording in Berlin? I saw Aaron mixing and Bryce playing there but I thought they were just there to perform and any TN stuff going on was maybe just mixing garage demos.
The new one looks like it might be in Whiteboard Land. I wonder if they recorded in Berlin and now they are already mixing with Katis?
Exciting!January 17, 2013 at 11:48 pm #539
As far I know, it seemed to just be Bryce and Aaron in Berlin (although they actually performed together in Copenhagen). I think they were recording upstate, but not with Katis, and doing some recording in the garage, but not sure where they’re based now.January 18, 2013 at 1:02 am #543
This is the one I was wondering about. Posted yesterday. That’s not Berlin, right?
(How did you get your image into the post?)January 18, 2013 at 2:33 pm #560
I actually thought that was Aaron’s place.
The img tags are all weird- I literally didn’t try and post the image, I posted a link to instagram and it posted automatically!January 18, 2013 at 11:46 pm #576January 19, 2013 at 12:46 am #578
Alright, so I’m back to wondering why he’s still drumming in Aaron’s studio…. unless that is Tarquin and Tarquin just happens to look a LOT like the garage. This question might be my only motivation ever to watch A Skin, A Night again.
Maybe I’ll win with my Sept. bet after all! (But I’d much rather have an album before summer.)
I’m also really curious if they are recording almost everything in house now. I guess I’ll just have to wait until some interviews start trickling in.January 19, 2013 at 12:50 am #579
Maybe he’s just hanging out. Maybe they’re purposely messing with our heads. Maybe.January 20, 2013 at 5:14 pm #631
I think that’s the garage, I remember admiring the panelling in the NY Times piece (or wherever it was).
DUIS, you can spare yourself the pain and watch the promo video with Wolfman the cat instead, yes?January 20, 2013 at 7:50 pm #636
^ EXCELLENT suggestion. I will do that.
I’m almost positive it’s the garage too.
They DO purposely mess with our heads, so now on to the important questions…. Will we get whiteboard sneak previews this time? Or maybe a strategically blurry photo of Bryan’s notes? Huh? Huh? C’mon Band, you know you are secretly flattered when we get all obsessive and nerd-stalk you (in a harmless interwebz way). You love it. Admit it. You’re begging for more.January 21, 2013 at 8:29 am #643
This video also makes me think the shot was taken in Aaron’s garage.
I don’t think this kind of wood is a regular thing in studios anyway.
Sharon Van Etten’s Tramp was mostly recorded in the garage with additional recording being done at Tarquin Studios, in a Ditmas Park and a Philadelphia location.
With this in my mind I think it’s unlikely that, the location has anything to with the stage of recording they’re in – unless you know more than me..?January 21, 2013 at 2:57 pm #646
^Good point. I would be inclined to guess that they did the main recordings already and would be putting on the garnishes and frills in the garage.
