Just to thank the TV gurus for bringing Justified and Californication back to air within 5 days of each other.

Also as that funny chap who used to recommend  about 3 movies every other day (was it DeltaSigmaSomething ?) has not yet shown his face around these parts, Seven Psychopaths is a film to see for all those who liked In Bruges.

Looper, despite obvious plot flaws, is good and entertaining and I also recently caught and enjoyed Limitless – I know it was released in 2011 but sometimes things slip through the net.

The last movie I watched was Synecdoche, NY — and if it’s not the best one I’ve seen, it’s a contender.

    I want Breaking Bad back.

We all want Breaking Bad back but I fear that things ain’t going to work out well for Walt come the final episode. I just hope that somewhere along the line Skylar gets told what a whining, moaning, greedy bitch she is.

…and??  You left out the most important part of the post.  Your thoughts!

I saw Silver Linings Playbook and liked it quite a bit more than I was expecting.  A somewhat refreshing twist on what is usually a pretty stale genre.

    Whoops.

    Sorry about that.

Argo – enjoyed this quite a bit, only had really minor complaints about it which I won’t go into.

Django Unchained – loved this a lot. Not my favorite Tarantino movie, but it’s up there.

Silver Linings Playbook – went into this with pretty much no expectations and came out really enjoying it. Like a lot. I was so pleasantly surprised by how much I liked this.

Zero Dark Thirty – I was not a fan of Hurt Locker, but decided to see this one anyway. For the most part, it’s pretty great. Do I think it’s worthy of winning Best Picture? No.

I’m hearing the same thing about Silver Linings Playbook from a lot of very diverse people, so I might have to try to see that.  I rarely see films.

Scary Aunty’s Pi review is brilliant, I hope you walked out of the cinema muttering that!

I got a blu ray player recently so only watch shiny films. Although in a brief moment of indie credibility I squeezed Tyrannosaur in and it SLAYED me. Quite fancy Silver Linings…because I love films about mental health (couch trip etc yeah) and also fancy that Hunger Games chick. I presume there is a good indie soundtrack too so basically the film was focus grouped for me.

I think Life of Pi is visually really beautiful, but that’s about it. It was quite a boring movie.

I love Argo and Django Unchained. Ben Affleck should quit acting and dedicate himself to directing. As for Django Unchained,  I think Christoph Waltz, Leonardo DiCaprio and Jamie Fox are brilliant in it. Also really good job, Mr. Tarantino!

The Silver Lining Playbook was quite a surprise. I liked it.

I have also seen Amour. For me, this is the kind of movie you are only going to watch once. It’s quite heavy at the end.

I remember this board having a few Wes Anderson fans. In case you if haven’t seen this yet and you have enjoyed Moonrise Kingdom, you are going to like this: http://www.pastemagazine.com/articles/2013/01/complete-illustrated-moonrise-kingdom-script-relea.html.
