I have an advance reading copy of Peter Hook’s book Inside Joy Division. No prizes for guessing what I’ll be doing this weekend…

I’ve just finished up Iceberg by Paul Kavanagh because it was free for the Kindle.  Pretty damn good.  I guess the phrase “You get what you pay for” doesn’t hold here.

Now I’m on to Designing Great Beers by Ray Daniels.  Probably won’t get too much interest ’round these parts…  (but if there are any other homebrewers out there, this is probably the best homebrewing book I’ve read.  Get it!)

Peter Hook’s book is genius. Why aren’t all memoirs this good? I heard he’s doing a booksigning at Anderson’s in Naperville, if I didn’t hallucinate that. Damn.

A word to the wise, when visitors taste and compliment your homebrew they are probably just being polite?

^It’s got the perfect balance of history and gossip, levity and rue.

The best thing I read while between forums was Gun Machine by Warren Ellis. Brilliantly crafted, great characters, wire-tight plot, suspenseful and funny.

Sometimes yes, but I can usually tell what their actual feelings are without having to listen to their words.  Partly because I’ve served a lot of homemade beer to a lot of people, and partly because I’m well aware of when it’s good and when it isn’t.  I’m looking forward to serving you some someday and then silently judging your reaction…

He loves beer so I let him have a full can of PBR once, but never again.  He turned out to be a pretty annoying drunk; somewhat reckless with some loud barking.

Yeah well I think a big hound like you got may be more partial to a Miller Lite?

I’m really not sure of exactly what you’re saying here (possibly a bash on me having some PBR on hand), but I confident that you are living up to your name.

Congratulations, A strong sense of self is one of the most valuable things you can have in life.

OUCH!   Jimbo that hurt and I wasn’t even being malicious, infact you are one of several here that I enjoy exchanging banter with (others still to return do not fall within that envelope) so nothing is personal ok?

BTW you are not one of those “Red Necks” we have heard about that inhabit the USA are you?

Noooooo! The most of the South in Jimbo is some pastafarianism, you will see.

I just Amazon’d the homebrewing and Joy Division books. This is what happens when you give me money and an internet connection.

I’m reading like six short story books, in the meantime.

    THIS IS QUOTED

NOW THE QUOTING IS ENDING  –  not sure why it doesn’t work sometimes.
Don’t be hurt my dear bastard, I too look forward to your replies.  Maybe I let the banter get a bit too hot too fast this time, but I assure you I too meant nothing malicious.  I wish there were more vile bastards in the general population.  And although I’m sure that I share some redneck traits, I’m far from the real thing.  As Another Uninnocent put it, my education level, political and religious views, and the quality of beer that I make are quite the opposite of the rednecks you have heard of.
